Katy Hall, Facility Manager
Katy Hall graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2013, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, she immediately began the Kinesiology graduate program at UW. She will be completing her Master’s Degree in Exercise and Sport Science, with an emphasis in Exercise and Sport Psychology in December of 2016. Katy is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is currently working towards becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, CSCS. While attending UW, she competed for five years for the cowgirl’s track and field team primarily as a 60–meter and 100–meter hurdler. During her time as a Cowgirl, she was able to achieve honors on the track and in the classroom as both a Mountain West All Conference team member and Mountain West Scholar Athlete. Katy is excited to be a part of Altitude Fitness because she has a profound passion for training and conditioning because of her own personal experiences and wants to share that with others. Her passion for athletics is what drives her to help others achieve their goals.
Marten Baur, Shift Manager
Marten is strength and conditioning coach with a passion for Olympic Weightlifting and optimizing human biomechanics. He is a certified personal trainer through the American Counsel of Exercise and has received certifications ranging from CrossFit level 1 trainer, USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach, and Bioforce Certified Conditioning Coach. He has also completed a 100 hour internship with USA Weightlifting Hall of Fame Coach Bob Takano, gaining a deeper understanding of the classical lifts, strength training, and program design. Marten’s interest in pain-free movement and performance optimization shows through his programming and coaching style. Originally from Lander, Wyoming, Marten moved to Laramie to pursue higher education. He is currently finishing two Bachelor’s degrees in Kinesiology and Physiology at the University of Wyoming. After graduation, he hopes to continue his education at physical therapy school. Marten is excited to teach what he is passionate about, and is proud to be a part of the Altitude Fitness team. He enjoys the opportunity to impact the health of the Laramie community and learn more about himself in the process. He enjoys outdoor activities (backpacking, mountain biking, climbing, mountaineering), playing music, and training for weightlifting competitions.
Alice Hovis, Shift Manager
Alice is from La Grange, Wyoming and moved to Laramie in 2012 for a higher education. She graduated in 2016 from the University of Wyoming with her BA in Art and a minor in Museum Studies, and is currently pursuing her BS in Business Management- Human Resources, with her ultimate goal being to earn her MBA. She enjoys hiking and sunshine, volunteer work, and observing art as well as being able to draw and paint as a hobby. Notably, Alice picked up and moved to Anchorage, Alaska for a time where she got her fill of adventure but eventually missed the great City of Laramie. She says she is so excited to be in this position where she can develop as a leader, challenge herself with the support of the other amazing employees, and come to a gym every day. Alice adds that she loves working for people that are so well known for helping people in the community and that her workplace environment makes her feel peaceful, empowered, and capable.
Lauren, originally from Denver, came to Laramie to pursue a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering with a minor in business. She has a passion for fitness and the outdoors, and she enjoys hiking, camping and skiing. She is also training to compete in a future NPC figure competition. After she graduates, she hopes to get a career in the oilfield. Lauren is excited to join the AF team because “I’ve had a passion for fitness and health for about 2 years and I’m excited to be surrounded by like-minded people trying to better themselves, and push their limits.”
Austin is from Buffalo, Wyoming and came to Laramie for schooling, to be closer to friends, and the outdoorsy nature of the city. He is currently in the process of earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. After graduation, he aspires to be a probation officer and eventually go into parole. In his free time, Austin enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and spike ball. He also golfs and says that most of the time, he’d rather be in the mountains. He is excited to be here at Altitude Fitness surrounded by like-minded individuals that make physical fitness a priority.
Originally from Parker, Colorado, Charlotte came to the University of Wyoming for a higher education and to play on UW’s women’s soccer team. She is a 5th year senior this year playing as a forward/midfielder and is interested in lots of sports, particularly soccer and skiing. Additionally, Charlotte enjoys the outdoors, guitar, and coaching! She is continuing to gain experience as a strength and conditioning coach with her ultimate goal to be a strength coach for a university or sport performance gym. Charlotte is excited to be a part of the AF team because of her love of seeing individuals push themselves to live a healthier lifestyle. She has a passion for coaching others in the gym, built upon her experience herself as an athlete; Charlotte enjoys helping others reach their health goals and seeing other’s success is truly what brings her joy as an individual.
Kevin is from Cheyenne, Wyoming and came to Laramie for schooling. Notably, this year he finished his first marathon this year and has graduated basic and AIT since being enlisted in the Wyoming Army National Guard. His hobbies include running, lifting, shooting, hunting, movies and reading. Kevin’s future plans are to commission as an officer in the US Army after graduating college. He says that he loved the atmosphere of Altitude Fitness and he is excited to be a part of that and get to know everybody.
